Taking care of your candles

One thing we love at Soho Bay is candles! We are proud to stock some of the leading Australian made brands, like Peppermint Grove, Elume and Firelilee. In order to keep your favourite lasting as long as possible, here are some helpful tips for all brands.

• Candles have a memory! The first time you light your candle, you want to choose a moment when you can keep it burning across the entire top. This will ensure the candle will keep melting evenly, preventing tunneling. 

• Keep it clean! Remove any soot or debris that forms on the top of your candle, otherwise it can produce multiple flames. 

• For a clean, even burn, make sure you keep the wick trimmed.

• Don’t let your candle burn down to nothing! As much as you love the smell, you want to keep a bit of wax left in the bottom. This will stop the vessel from overheating.

• Make sure you keep your candle in a heat resistant place while burning, and a cool place when it’s not in use.
